May 2021 Newsletter: My Checklist

What's New

  • My Checklist. We all have lots of items (work-related and personal) that we need to track, but that doesn't belong in Workzone projects. We've built a simple-to-use, drag-and-drop tool for doing that, accessed at the top of the Reports module, in lieu of sticky notes, scraps of paper, or separate electronic apps.  My Checklist is also accessible on mobile, for easy updating on the go. • Customize the reports you see. Hide any of the reports in the Reports module that you don't find useful. Go to the User Settings menu (top right of the screen with your picture or initials), click "My Settings" then "Reports to display".  Deselect any report you want to hide, and then click Save at the bottom.  Learn more
  • Comment reactions. Add a thumbs up, smile, or other reaction emoji to a comment, as a quick alternative to a text comment.  Learn more
  • Visual updates. As you've likely seen by now, we've made a number of cosmetic changes to make the interface a bit lighter and more modern.  Learn more
  • Additional enhancements
    • Add the "breadcrumb" column to the To-Do List or Project To-Do List if you use the same task names in multiple places and need to see the summary/parent tasks inside which they sit.
    • Notes and Description fields on the Task List are now truncated after approximately 4 lines worth of characters to preserve vertical space, with the full content viewable on hover. This can be disabled under Settings.
    • The actions button in Image Markup is now frozen at the top of the screen upon scrolling, so they can always be accessed.
    • You can now request approval on multiple files from project and task trays.
    • Emailed links to approvals and image markup now keep you in the Projects module if the file is part of a project (previously took you to Documents).
    • You can now @mention another user when editing a comment.
    • The values for the Priority field now extend from 1-10.
    • You can now filter for another user on the Late Items report.

What We're Working On / Exploring Now [target release]

  • Reorganizing items in Settings. We're moving items around in Settings so they fit more logically under sections for the main module in which they reside (Projects, Documents, etc.). [May]
  • Dashboard/Reporting enhancements.  We're exploring a major expansion of the data you can track and trend over time, displayed on new dashboards with configurable report widgets of charts or tables. [July]
  • Board view. A graphical, drag and drop method for moving items across columns that represent the steps in a workflow, as an alternative layout to existing list and Gantt views. [Sep]
  • Branching/conditional logic for custom request forms. Certain questions only appear if the respondent provides specific answers to other questions. [Oct?]
  • Threaded comments. Currently each item has a single string of comments.  Frequently these comments can involve several distinct sub-topics, and can be useful to group these sub-topics into their own "threads", so that related comments stay together. [Nov?]
  • User homepage. A user-specific dashboard that shows tasks due soon, personal to-do's, recently viewed and favorite projects, and recent activity relevant to the user. [Dec?]
