February 2022 Newsletter: Redesigned Filters

On the heels of the major addition of Boards last month and with significant other enhancements underway (see below), we have a modest list of new updates this month. 

What's New

  • Projects module filters enhancements
    • New look for filters page -- we've redesigned the filters overlay for the Task List and Gantt Chart to be more usable and compact, with dedicated sections for project and task filters.
    • The new "User's Projects" filter in the projects section shows any project where the user is responsible at any level (project/task).
    • The new "Dates Spanning" filter in the projects section shows any project/tasks that take place during the date range entered ("what are we working on?")
    • Filtering for Manually Selected Items -- sometimes you want to filter for specific tasks or projects, perhaps for sharing with a client or stakeholder. From the main view, select rows for projects or lowest-level tasks (either, not both) and then click the new "Filter Selected" button.

  • We've replaced our custom "Captcha" for public request forms with the standard reCAPTCHA to ensure its compliance with accessibility standards.
  • Screening Room users can now download multiple files at once
  • When viewing the "Original Size" version of markup for a multi-page PDF, it will now stay at this size when you switch pages
  • Change default "work" for new tasks. By default, new tasks have work of 8 hours. Companies can now change default work to as little as 1 minute (requires Professional or Enterprise license)
  • Completed Tasks report -- the category filter is now multi-select
  • Hours by Responsible report - now shows all responsible with budgeted hours
  • You can no longer add new tasks to Completed or Cancelled projects.  Activate them first, and then add the new tasks.
  • Hours by Project/Responsible reports -- added project state filter of "Active or Complete"
  • Usage Summary Report - checkbox at the top to hide disabled users

Use Chat to Get Your Questions Answered Most Quickly

We recently added the ability to chat directly with the friendly Workzone support team directly from inside Workzone.  As an alternative to email, chat typically gets you back on your way more quickly, and users have reported very high levels of satisfaction with the Workzone chat experience.  Try chatting the next time you have a need!  Chat is accessed from the Help menu at the top right of the screen


What We're Working On / Exploring Now  [target release]

  • Conditional logic for custom request forms. Certain questions only appear if the respondent provides specific answers to other questions. (requires Enterprise license) [Apr]
  • Redesigned Gantt Chart. We're giving the Gantt view a facelift, making it easier to read, navigate and print. [May]
  • Threaded comments. Currently, each item has a single string of comments.  Frequently these comments can involve several distinct sub-topics and can be useful to group these sub-topics into their own "threads", so that related comments stay together. [Jun]
  • Tasks without dates. Allow tasks without start or end dates.  [Jul]
