Linking To Items

Workzone can link to items which reside elsewhere in Workzone, in Google's document services, or to any item hosted/online with a specific address. This article also briefly describes uploading files directly into Workzone.

Projects Module

To upload a document from your computer/device or link to an existing file elsewhere in Workzone, within Google, or on the web, click on the name of the task/project, select the Files tab in the details tray, then click the Add File button. In the dropdown list that appears (as seen below), you can then choose to:

  • Upload from computer - Either click the Select Files button and choose the file(s) you want to upload or drag and drop the file(s) onto the Drop files here... area. Click the Upload button to confirm.
  • Link file from Workzone - Click on the folder names that display to navigate to the folder or item to which you'd like to link. Check the box next to that item and then click the Add Selected Items button. (only documents in the same workspace are available to be linked)
  • Link file from Google Drive - Enter the URL for the file from Google (you can follow the steps here to find a document's URL). You can also choose to enter a File Name and select one of File Type icons, then click the Add Link button.
  • Add web link -  Enter the URL for the item. You can also choose to enter a Web Link Name and Description, then click the Add Link button.

  • Link to board (card) - Select the Overview tab in the details tray, then click Link to board in the Project Details section (as seen below). In the Link to Board overlay that appears, click the attach link to the left of the board you want linked. A new card will be created on the selected board.
